Total Defence Day

We celebrated Total Defence Day on yesterday. The objective of celebrating Total Defence Day is to allow pupils to know what the five aspects of Total Defence are--Psychological Defence, Social Defence, Economic Defence, Civil Defence and Military Defence
The pupils should also be aware that even at their age, their participation in Total Defence is important. The message is that everyone can play a part in defending the country. On this special day, the canteen did not sell the children's favourite food. Instead, the stalls were selling food like sweet potato, plain bread, plain porridge, plain water, etc. The water supply was also cut off during recess time. A bucket of water was placed outside the toilet for the children to scoop and use. The purpose was to remind the children of the sufferings endured by our fore fathers during the Japanese Occupation. The little ones enjoyed eating the plain porridge. 'Yummy!" was the first thing they said when they saw me in the canteen. Some were even asked whether they could eat the plain porridge and sweet potato everyday! Hahaha......
